A man in Kirinyaga County has rather shocked residents thereafter he decided to take his life having an argument with his loving mother over his love for illicit alcohol.
The 44-year-old man committed suicide on Monday at Mutinu village in Ndia Constituency.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased; Peter Mwangi, threw himself into a fish pond at a nearby farm where he drowned.
The mother of the deceased told police that she got into an argument with her deceased son after she gave him over 10 kilograms of maize to sell but he used the money to drink illicit alcohol.
After the disagreement, the woman said she was later informed that the 44-year-old had killed himself.
“I had been feeding him since his wife disappeared from home after disagreements. Right now I’m taking care of his son,” his mother said.
Ndia Deputy Sub-county Deputy County Commissioner Moses Ivuto said the body was taken Kibugi Funeral Home awaiting postmortem.
