Maranda Boys High School joins the long list of boarding public schools that have been recently set ablaze by students.
A 500 bed capacity dormitory in Maranda was last night set ablaze by students over reasons that are yet to be established.
Cheplaskei Boys’ dormitory is also reported to have been set ablaze.
Education CS George Magoha has however been blamed for the school fires that seem not to be ending any time soon.
According to a twitter user by the name Abuga Makori, CS Magoha never consults widely with regards to the education calendar.
“Not shocked with the fire incident at Maranda High School. Students are fatigued. CS Magoha never consults widely on the education calendar. He’s the one to blame,” Makori said in a tweet.
“After Maranda High School, next will be Alliance High School and Maybe Maseno School. Students need a rest. You can’t make education look like a chaotic entry to heaven. Magoha has failed badly in that docket,” he added.
On the other hand Abdirahman Takal said, “The recent school unrest is indicator for poor command of leadership from the ministry to grassroot Education stake holders. Seems Magoha should stop and learn to use soft approach not iron fist rule.”
Michael Mutati wrote, “Maranda High School on fire. High time for the ministry of education to close all schools, if not KDF should take over!”

“Maranda high school on fire. After analyzing these incidents. Maybe teachers are using students to burn schools after Prof George Magoha imposed strict fee reduction or Students themselves are getting hectic time with the little available time,” Komrade Ogutu said.
Magoha on his side said that students who are involved with burning of school building’s will not be spared by the law.
“That information is going to be on the record of your life and the law does not allow even if you are 10 years, to buy petrol and burn a property, if you want go and burn your mother’s building,” Magoha said.
The ministry of education announced that students in primary and secondary schools will be proceeding for the mid-term break on Friday, November19 and resume on Tuesday, November 23.
