A Meru resident is seeking the intervention of president William Ruto to bring to an end the stalemate being witnessed in the county government.
Henry Muriithi, has filed a petition seeking to have the head of state dissolve the county government.
Muriithi took the action after learning that MCAs have vowed not to work with Mwangaza after she was saved from impeachment for the second time by the Senate.
According to him, MCAs have considered Mwangaza their enemy. He further notes that the executive(the governors office) and the county assembly are operating parallel instead of working together.
“MCAs have publicly declared the executive their enemy,” he said.
In his petition, the Igembe North resident further says that Meru County government is completely broken and dysfunctional and there it can’t deliver it’s mandate to the people
“The stalemate has resulted into objectives of devolution not being met as foreseen under article 174 of the constitution. If the objectives of devolution are not being achieved in the county government of Meru, the people submit that the county ought to be dissolved at the earliest opportunity,” he said in his petition.
Mwangaza survived the second impeachment after senators threw out all the 7 charges that had been levelled against her by MCAs.
Some of the charges she was facing include; misappropriation of public resources, nepotism, bullying and demeaning other leaders, misuse of power among others.
It is however alleged that Mwangaza survived the impeachment following a call from Azimio leader Raila Odinga to Azimio senators.
