Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua was recently named as the running mate for Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
That excited Kenyan women who believed that gender equality in the country is at its best with her nomination.
Since then, Karua has traversed parts of Mt. Kenya drummed up support for Raila and Azimio team in the coming general elections. Incase Azimio wins the August election, she will become the first ever female deputy president in the country.
From her nature, the lawyer has earned several titles including Iron lady, Kenya’s most powerful female politician, Senior Counsel but above all she is also a mother.
Karua has two children from her previous marriage, a son and a daughter, and is also a grandmother but she has beaten all odds to keep her family life off the limelight.
Her son, however, is believed to be George Maringa(Dan), a journalist who works at KTN. Maringa is believed to be Karua’s son after she posted her photo with him some time back last year, during a luncheon in honor of Chief Justice Martha Koome.

Maringa has worked at KTN since 2017. He began as an intern before he rose through the ranks to the position of an anchor.
He was the first ever reporter of the station to be based in Meru but covered stories from neighboring counties such as Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Isiolo, Lamu and Marsabit.
Before joining KTN, he worked for African Virtual University (AVU) in various capacities within Education Technology and learning resources.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Jomo Kenyatta University. He is a member of Finland’s Foreign Correspondents’ Programme.
He also speaks French.
