There are a number of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) politicians who have threatened to dump deputy president William Ruto and join the major opponents.
One of those politicians is Isaac Mwaura who on Friday morning in a press briefing made it clear that he would lead a mass walkout from the Kenya Kwanza coalition if William Ruto does not intervene.
Isaac Mwaura lost the UDA nominations to one Mr. King’ara. Consequently, he dismissed the entire electoral process as shambolic, claiming it was marred by gross irregularities including delayed delivery of materials, expulsion of his agents from stations and voter bribery.
The politician is now demanding that UDA must declare the nominations results as null and void and immediately conduct another free and fair election.
“We will file a formal complaint to the party because what happened in Ruiru was not an election. It was all shambolic and the evidence we have is very clear. We want UDA to declare the exercise null and void and allow Ruiru people to engage in a free and fair electoral process,” he said.
He added that failure by Ruto to heed their calls will make him and other party loyalists to shift allegiance to other camps, a move that will likely hurt William Ruto’s political ambitions.
Other aspirants who have threatened to ditch Ruto are from the Mvita constituency, Majengo ward in Mombasa, Makadara constituency in Nairobi amongst other places. By the time of reporting this news, more than 30 politicians are at the UDA headquarters in Nairobi demanding fairness from Ruto’s UDA party or else they dump him for Azimio.
On her side, Laikipia woman rep Cate Waruguru equally blamed the party and accused them of favoring her opponent in the Laikipia East parliamentary race. She is also demanding for justice or else she makes a major political move.
