List Of Kenya’s Finest Entertainers That Were Reduced To Beggars

Date:

A lot of Kenyan entertainers and celebrities are suffering out there but most of them would rather suffer in silence than come out in the open.

For some it might just be the pride and  protecting their status/names while others fear that they might be judged by Kenyans but still there are those who have opened up on their struggles while seeking help from Kenyans so that they can be back on their feet.

There are a number of reasons that have pushed these entertainers to the ground for example covid pandemic, alcoholism and even sickness. Here are some of Kenya’s best entertainers that have been forced to seek help from kenyans.

Consumator

Peter Wamwea alias Consumator was a comedian at Churchill show and the last time he performed on the show was in 2019 before the covid pandemic.

He is the most recent celebrity to plead for help from Kenyans after going bankrupt and forced to work as a shamba boy to make ends meet.

In an interview with Plug TV, Consumator said that he took a break from comedy after his father was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2019, little did he know that that was his downfall.

He used all his savings on his father’s treatment hoping that he would raise money again but covid came and it hit him hard since there were no events for him to perform and host. He could no longer pay his rent, forcing him to move in with a friend who also kicked him out within four months.

Consumator is now asking for help from Kenyans to restore his lost glory.

Omosh Kizangila

Kamau Kinuthia played the role of Omosh in the popular Tahidi high drama series. The show was halted thus throwing Omosh into a difficult situation as that was his source of income.

In February last, an emotional Omosh was captured  begging for any job that would help him survive. He was also facing an eviction over rent arrears of up to Kshs.150,000.

“I just want a job, even if I will be getting Ksh200 a day. I don’t mind about class and even if someone decides to start a hotel business where I can sell uji and tea, I am okay with that,” Omosh said in a YouTube video.

Visita

Visita is famous for songs like Mapepo and Elewa. He was a producer at grandpa records and some of his works include songs like Maswali ya polisi and Fimbo inachapa.

Last year in October, Visita revealed that he was staying at a friend’s studio after life took a turn on him.

He was kicked out of his rental house due to rent arrears and spend a week on the verandah with his wife and children as he looked for a means to transport the family to their rural home.

Back in May, he had pleaded with Kenyans to help him offset rent arrears but seems that that did not materialize

Njoro

Maina Njoroge is also one of the entertainers that cracked Kenyans ribs years back while on the Churchill show. Back in 2020, the comedian pleaded Kenyans for financial help after going through depression and attempting suicide thrice. He had also become an alcohol addict.

“The first time I licked rat poison, I was licking glucose as well. The second time I bought cow medicine, I had been told it works immediately so I took it. I also tried to cut my wrist but all attempts failed” he opened up to Zainab Zeddy.

Mama Stella

Clara Wamaitha, famously known as Mama Stella from Machachari show, was also forced to turn to Kenyans for financial assistance after she was diagnosed with Vitiligo.

Vitiligo is a permanent skin condition whereby pale white patches develop on the skin.

Clara spent all her money on treatment and asked Kenyans to help her raise Kshs 150,000 before she eventually understood what was happening to her.
