Lilian Muli Recounts Huge Blunder That Made Her Divorce Details Leak To The Public

Date:

Lilian Muli is among the great Kenyan journalists and news anchors that have remained relevant on the screens. Her career in the profession dates back to 2005 when she started as an intern at KTN.

Currently, she presents prime time news at Citizen TV but her journey in the limelight has not been rosy at all as it has been mixed with drama, scandals and many times she has been subjected to trolls.

In the second episode of The Behind the Mic show that is broadcast on Citizen digital platforms, the news anchor opened up about her life, divorce and being a single mum.

Muli married Moses Njuguna Kanene, the father of her elder son, in 2009 but the marriage hit rock bottom and they divorced in 2016. Speaking about the matter she said that the information just leaked to the public and that was one major instance that she was subjected to trolls.

“I got married, very young, it was a big public affair, big wedding, all the media was there. A couple of years down the line, me and this guy are not just getting along so we have to go our separate ways. I go into a local TV service provider to get a different account because we(Lilian snd her ex-husband) had the same account for this particular provider. The chick that I am talking to figures out that there is an issue here and the next day, Lilian Muli’s divorce  is all over dailies and blogs. I was like I never said this and now somebody has gone and snitched and now my business is out there,” she recounted.

The mother of two further opened up on things she regrets to have done in her life including trusting the wrong people.

“I regret doing a lot of things. I regret procrastinating on a lot of things that I should have done. I regret trusting too easily. There are people who mean well, there are others  who can literally project a different image of you out there based on how much you let them in and how much you tell them. This applies to females and both males,” Muli said.

The other thing that she regrets is not taking her mental health seriously.

“People say therapy is a thing for guys who have issues, sick absolutely not. When you are in a space such as ours you must find somebody to talk to. Later on in life I took ity very serious and when things would get intense and overwhelming I would actually seek [help],” she said.
