Kenyan deputy President William Samoei Ruto on Sunday evening urged Kenyans to stop everything and fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ruto’s comments come in the wake of increasing number of Coronavirus cases that has seen Kenya record a surge in the the positive numbers.
The deputy president noted that the death rates are alarming and it is prudent to employ extra measures. He cited how the pandemic is killing many people including the health workers. Ruto wrote: “We should STOP everything and mobilize every HUMAN, MATERIAL and FINANCIAL resource to fight the pandemic.”
Kenya now has a total of 65,273 cases with 1249 deaths. Out of the total cases, 45,414 have recovered so far.
To reduce the infection rates, the government has imposed various policies aimed at helping manage the virus. Just recently, a number of people were arrested by the police officers for drinking without wearing masks. In terms of education, the virus affected the normal learning programs with students having to stay home for almost a year.

However, the classes that resumed include grade four, class eight and form fours . The three classes will be seating for their national exams. The other classes are expected to resume in early January.
