Wiper leader Dr. Steven Kalonzo Musyoka is a man on a mission and is keen on charting his own political path away from the ODM leader Raila Odinga and Azimio chairman Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta.
Sources near Kalonzo reveal that the Wiper leader is seriously working behind the scene to come up with a political machinery since he believes he has a good chance to be the president in 2027.
The move by Kalonzo is further bolstered by the fact that he is persuaded beyond reasonable doubts that Raila will be very irrelevant in 2027 and might not contest again.
Thus, Mr. Musyoka hopes to inherit the support base for Raila Odinga especially the Luo Nyanza and the Coastal regions, then fight for Western with Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula.
The Martha Karua factor is also pushing Kalonzo Musyoka to work hard because he understands very well that Karua would automatically be the next big thing in Kenyan politics by virtue of deputizing the Right Honorable Raila odinga in the just conluded general elections.
Politics being a dirty game, some forces within Azimio urged Musyoka to go and vie for the speakership position in the senate against Kenya Kwanza’s Amason Kingi. It is now emerging that this was amongst the elaborate plans to finish Mr. Musyoka politically since they were certain that he would be defeated hands down by Ruto’s speaker candidate and forever remain humiliated.
However, Mr. Musyoka got this intelligence in advance, prompting him to withdraw from the speaker race at the last minute. While withdrawing his candidature, Mr. Musyoka through his key allies argued that he would not take part in a process that had been marred by bribery, intimidation and corruption.
According to credible sources, the failure by Kalonzo to defeat Mr. Kingi was going to give justification as to why he ought not to be supported after failing to secure just a speaker position.
On his side, Kenyans have mixed views on Raila’s candidature in 2027 with some arguing that he won’t vie while others claiming that he will definitely contest for the last time.
