The latest move by the Independent Electoral Boundaries commission chairman Mr. Wafula Chebukati has sent William Ruto and his entire Kenya Kwanza team into panic.
Just 24 hours after declaring their own results through one Dennis Itumbi, it seems all is not well in the deputy president’s camp because the commission has taken a completely different route.
With rigging and hacking allegations the Electoral Commission is now confirming the uploaded forms 34As by comparing the ones submitted in the IEBC portal and those presented by the Returning Officers.
The Azimio side on Thursday accused the Kenya Kwanza of playing dirty by hacking the IEBC portal and editing the results in some forms. They further claimed that some forms in the public portal only had the signature of the UDA agents.
Azimio further raised the issue of the mismatch between presidential results and those of the other seats since the difference was abnormally more than those of the other seats.
The mismatch between presidential votes and that of the other posts was a big issue in 2017 when Supreme court Judge Justice Wanjala put the commission to explain why presidential votes were more than the other votes.
So serious was the issue raised by the court that it left the IEBC lawyers not only trembling but also struggling to explain where they came from. Eventually, this formed a very good ground for nullification.
Sonko News has learnt that the matter is disturbing the IEBC chairman Mr. Wafula Chebukati hence the move to verify the physical forms 34As with the ones in the IEBC portal just to avoid being nullified in case the loser challenges the results in the Supreme court.
Consequently, Kenyans are likely to wait until Tuesday next week at 10AM for the big announcement.
Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza may just be sent into panic mode if the claims by the Azimio that fake forms 34As were introduced into the system is true.
