A Lang’ata woman is accusing her former househelp of stealing her valuable items after locking her inside the bathroom.
Felgona Atieno said that she was in the bathroom taking a shower when the househelp, Judith Achando, locked her in and made away with her items including a laptop, phone and cash.
The incident happened on November 2, 2021.
“She locked me inside the bathroom as I was bathing before stealing my laptop, phone, cash and assorted clothes,” Atieno claims.
The suspect stole the valuables as Atieno’s six year old son watched since she had threatened him not to reveal her ill motive.
She only came to realize what had transpired after she was done with bathing. At first, she thought that it was her son who had locked her in the bathroom.
“On inquiring what had happened, my son told me that ‘aunty ameenda na simu na laptop’ (aunty has left with your phone and laptop),” she said. She also found the househelp’s room empty
Efforts to trace the suspect proved futile, forcing her to report the matter to the police. The incident was reported under the OB number 66/02/11/2021 with the subject stealing by servant
Atieno said that she did not have any fight with the househelp and she had not confronted her for any wrongdoing.
The two had a good relationship and she could not understand why Achando decided to pay her like that.
According to K24 Digital, Achando left for Mombasa after leaving Lang’ata and is currently under a new boss.
Lang’ata police boss B. Mwanthi said that the matter is currently under investigations and manhunt for the 34-year old suspect has been launched
“The matter is being dealt with by our officers and we are certain that the suspect will be arrested,” Mwanthi said.
