Date:

Davji Atellah, the secretary general of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union, has said that their planned protests to the Ministry of Health in is still on.

This is after a tweet was shared on KMPDU’ s X account announcing that the protests had been called off.

In the now deleted post,it was stated that the protests had been suspended because of the ongoing discussions.

“We are suspending the occupation of Afya House. This decision comes as a result of ongoing discussions and commitments towards ensuring all interns are posted in acvordance to 2017CBA. We remain vigilant and committed in achieving fair outcomes for all interns,” the deleted tweet read.

In his personal X account, Atellah revealed  that the KMPDU account had been hacked hence the statement.

“Reports circulating online that the effect #OccupyMoH has been suspended is false.

“The union handle has been compromised and we are trying our best to gain control of it and clean. We must overhaul the system including those that have hacked the union handles. We remain strong. We remain focused. Tukutane MoH,” he shared.

The medical practitioners have planned to march to the Ministry of Health Headquarters after the ministry failed to meet the demands that saw them take to the streets for about two months.
