A shy 18-year-old girl collapsed and died just a few minuted after being kissed for the first time by a boy.
Jemma Benjamin fell victim to a heart condition known as sudden adult death syndrome just after kissing Daniel Ross, 21.
Daniel said Jemma’s eyes “suddenly began to drop” as soon as she sat on the living room sofa. She began foaming at the mouth and collapsed.
“I rang her mother to see if she had epilepsy. She fell in and out of consciousness,” said Daniel.
Daniel said he gave Jemma CPR but all his efforts were in vain. The Paramedics face disciplinary action for taking too long to reach her but the coroner said it even if they arrived earlier they couldn’t have saved her.
Her dad, Dale said he thought his daughter’s relationship was just casual.
“She was very shy and timid. She was a beautiful daughter and a lovely person,” he added.
Daniel however said his relationship with Jemma was not sexual but they saw one another from time to time.
Jemma was a sports science student who was the eldest of four children and wanted to be a teacher.
Sources say Jemma had exams coming up at the time of the tragedy, and was “stressed” about the examinations.

The teenager died in April 2009 in Pontypridd, South Wales. She previously had no history of heart problems and the coroner.
Her Dale,38, a builder said later: “We were devastated that such a fit girl as Jemma should have died.”
Sudden adult death syndrome, the adult equivalent of cot death, kills around 500 people in Britain annually.
