Director of Criminal Investigations Kinoti Locks Out Haji From Investigations

In a sign of complete breakdown of relationship, the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti has announced that they will stop all forms of communication with the DPP on ongoing cases. According to the sources that spoke to the Star, the director of investigation bureau at the DCI John Kariuki, has instructed officers not to forward any file to the DPP before investigations are complete.
The Bromance between DPP Haji and DCI Kinoti came to an abrupt end when Haji disowned the DCI during the Investigation of the former KPA MD, Daniel Manduku. The matter played out in court when the DPP disowned the DCI after Manduku was arraigned in Court.

After a good run in the war against graft, Kinoti now says his officers are frustrated and their morale has hit the “lowest ebb”.

“We feel betrayed after doing the donkey work,” he said a day after a court drama in which the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Noordin Haji, declined to charge Kenya Ports Authority Managing Director Daniel Manduku.

This is the first time that Mr Kinoti, known for his tough talk, is complaining about the lack of progress in cases pending in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
