Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has provided the latest update regarding the planned police deployment to Haiti.
Kindiki noted that the 1,000 officers were being combed on various frameworks and laws before deployment.
“There was a small court matter but it has been resolved because the court said we needed to have a reciprocal agreement with Haiti that agreement has already been signed so we are now in the pre-deployment stage, and all the other programs are in place including the status of forces agreement and the laws of detention, arrest, standard operation procedures and other enforcement are in place,” said Kindiki.

Kindiki’s statement comes amidst mounting pressure from the US and the United Nations for Kenya to honour its pledge.
At the moment, violence has rocked Haiti with the gangs calling for the resignation of the current Prime Minister.
