Mike Sonko has revealed that former Citizen TV journalist Kimani Mbugua will now be receiving his treatment at Mombasa.
According to him, the journalist, who is suffering with bipolar disorder was airlifted to the Coastal City on Thursday.
The former governor went on to express hope that Mbugua will come out of the rehab center when he is okay
“Yesterday, we managed to airlift former Citizen TV journalist Kimani mbugua to Mombasa rehabilitation and empowerment centre for further treatment as promised earlier during the oga obina interview. Let’s pray for him. I’m 100% sure, he’ll be OK. @ogaobinna,” Sonko shared.
His post was accompanied by a video of Mbugua and his father at the airport and their arrival at their destination.
In the video, the Mbugua’a father couldn’t hide his excitement for the immense support that his son was receiving.
“Thank you so much mheshimiwa am humbled. Right now we are going to hospital and I know our son Kimani Mbugua is going to come out of that place a better champion,” he said.
Mbugua on the other hand recorded himself claiming that he was behind the death of Starlet Wahu, the younger sister of controversial preacher Victor Kanyari.
Mbugua has been battling the mental illness since 2021 after his drink was spiked excessively with cocaine, during his birthday bash.
Sonko joined hands with Oga Obinna to help Mbugua, who was getting out hand with worrying posts on social media.
Before joining Mombasa Rehab, Mbugua had been admitted at Mathare Mental Hospital.
