The UDA Women Rep candidate for Kiambu county Anne Wa Muratha has been forced to issue an apology over the viral cake incident.
For the better part of Monday and Tuesday, Wa Muratha was under fire especially on Twitter after a video emerged showing her serving Kiambu locals pieces of a cake by throwing at them.
The incident occurred at Ruiru stadium last year during an event that had been organized by Inooro TV presenter Njoroge wa Githinji to celebrate 16 years of media excellence.
Taking to her Facebook page, Wa Muratha confirmed that she was the one who was captured throwing the pieces of cake to the crowd.
“I wish to confirm that I am the one captured in the Viral video throwing pieces of cake to a group of people who had gathered at the Ruiru Stadium for an event on November 7th, 2021. I was the cake matron of the day and erred in crowd control and appropriately sharing the cake,” she said.
She apologized for her mistake saying such an occurrence will never be witnessed again while expressing her hope in serving the Kiambu people through the Women Rep position
“I deeply, and sincerely, apologize for the action and ask the people to forgive me. If I would turn back the clock, I would distribute the cake differently. I am a mother and a wife determined to bake a larger cake of opportunities for the people of Kiambu and serve them diligently as their woman representative. Once again, I sincerely apologize and accept my mistake, it will never happen again. Yours truly,” Wa Muratha said.
