A 21-year old woman from Kericho survived a life threatening ordeal after she was robbed and thrown out of a moving vehicle.
The incident occurred at 9 pm on Sunday night as the victim was headed to her destination in Chepseon area of Kericho.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the young woman had boarded a Toyota Wish that had other occupants not knowing what was awaiting her.
“After running day-long errands at the green town, the young lady had at 9pm boarded a 7-seater black Toyota Wish at a stage opposite Kipchimatt Supermarket, bound for Chepseon area of Kericho,” a statement by DCI read.
“Opting for the vehicle whose make is popular for transport in the county, the young woman found three male occupants, a driver and two others whom she believed were passengers like her. However, it was a matter of time before the trio turned her holy day of worship into a dreadful experience,” DCI said.
The driver then started the car and headed towards their destination before demanding for her fare after a kilometer. Before she could pay she could reach out for her purse, one of the men grabbed her hand and ordered her to surrender her smartphone and all the money she had.
“The chocked and terrified victim complied, whereby the malefactors threw her from the vehicle at Duka Moja area and sped off,” DCI said.
Good Samaritans found the victim and administered first aid to her before reporting the matter to the local authorities.
Detectives who are pursuing the suspects have called upon any one with information regarding the suspects to help the police with investigations.
 “Should you have information on this incident where the vehicle’s registration details were not captured and the perpetrators are yet to be identified,” DCI stated.
