Kentegra Biotechnology a Nairobi-based company specializing in the production of organic insecticide pyrethrum for home biocide, agricultural, and pharmaceutical pesticide markets emerged among the winners in the 2023 Secretary of State’s Award for Corporate Excellence (ACE).
The company was feted in an event Presided over by Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken on Monday, October 23 in the US.
Kentegra emerged as the overall winner in the Innovation Category.
Established in 1999, the ACE recognizes the crucial role U.S. companies are playing in elevating higher standards of business conduct.
“Kentegra Biotechnology in Kenya combines pioneering technology, engineering, and agriculture to produce pyrethrum. This organic, climate change-resistant crop is used to produce natural pesticides that are contributing to a greener, healthier world while also supporting thousands of smallholder farmers in East Africa,” the US described the company during the unveiling of the winners.
Kentegra Biotechnology produces and sells pyrethrin extracted from dried pyrethrum flowers to global insecticide and pesticide manufacturers.
Other winners included Avertra Corp a medium-sized technology company with a large employee base in Jordan and Google Poland which is developing and recruiting women for management and leadership positions.
Others included Parsyl Inc., which is a medium-sized cold chain risk management enterprise working globally and with a special focus in Côte d’Ivoire and other African countries and Ampersand USA Inc. which produces electric motorbike components, including batteries, to Rwanda.
