Date:

Kenya Railway has suspended daily commuter trains plying Ruiru, Embakasi Village, Limuru, Lukenya and Syokimau.

The link train operating between Nairobi Central Railway station and Nairobi Terminus serving Madaraka Express Passenger service customers will be available.

The Nanyuki Safari Train, Kisumu Safari Train, Suswa Leisure Train and Madaraka Express Passenger Service Train will be available.

Next year, customers are however expected to pay more for access to train services.

In the latest review, a passenger travelling to Mombasa will now pay Ksh1,500 effective January 1, 2024, up from the current Ksh1,000.

For those who wish to travel with first class, they will have to pay Ksh4,500, up from Ksh3,000.

“This increase is informed by changes in that energy and petroleum sector where prices of fuel have significantly increased thus increasing the cost of operations,” Kenya Railways said.

Passengers will be charged Ksh1,430 from Athi River to Mombasa; Emali to Mombasa will attract a fare of Ksh1,100.
