A candidate in the ongoing Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education (KCSE) at St Martin Wendano Secondary School in Matungulu, Machakos County fell into a dam while taking photos.
The boy is reported to have tripped and fallen into the dam on Friday, November 24 where he had gone for adventure with his fellow students.
Reports allege that they had completed their final paper before proceeding for the adventure which turned tragic.
Confirming the incident, Matuu Sub-location Assistant Chief Raphael Musyoki said the student slid and fell into the dam during a photo session.
A rescue and search mission for the boy’s body bore no fruit, with the exercise which was led by well-wishers being called off at around 6.30 pm due to darkness.
The operation to retrieve the body will resume on Saturday.
