Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) has hired twins who will replace veteran journalist and news anchor Bad Muhsin.
Muhsin died on October 8, 2021, after a short illness.
Jamila and Wanjiru Mbugua have made their comeback in the media industry and will be hosting the Dira Ya Magwiji bulletin that airs on Saturdays at 7 pm. They will be alternating with Pauline Shegu.
Jamila hosted NTV’s property show. Before that, she worked as host at K24 whereby she hosted the Faraja show.
On the other hand, Wanjiru worked as a communication and consultant at Diamond media and served as business anchor at KBC between 2006-2008.
In June this year, the national broadcaster re-launched and revamped their studios in a move that saw the station bring back veteran journalists including Catherine Kasavuli, Tom Mboya, Harith Salim among others.
The editor-in-chief Samuel Maina said that the changes were necessary due to the dynamics of the media industry.
“The market has been yearning for these anchors. The corporation decided to give them an opportunity to deliver our product to Kenyans. They are also very experienced and will also be training our upcoming anchors to sharpen their anchoring skills.
“(KBC has) invested a lot in software and hardware, a modern television anchoring set, and as such we will fully start broadcasting on High-Definition technology unlike before where we used to combine HD and SD. It’s big-time for us,” Maina stated.
