DP William Ruto broke his silence regarding the Bill that seeks to do away with live streaming of election results.
The bill was proposed in parliament on Wednesday by majority leader Amos Kimunya and seeks to bring back the manual transmission of poll results like in 2007 elections
According to DP Ruto, the never-ending amendments on election laws clearly show plans to install leaders on Kenyans and must fail.
“The never-ending onslaught through election law amendments is a choreographed attempt to install a puppet on the Kenyan electorate and sabotage our freedom of choice and hard-earned democracy. The plan is evil and must fail. The people have resoundingly said HATUPANGWINGWI,” DP Ruto said on Twitter.
He termed the plans as undemocratic saying that it is a sign of a troubled future of Kenya and the well-being of everyone.
“The desperate efforts to install project kitendawili by forceful, illegal, undemocratic & unconstitutional means portends a troubled future for Kenya, its democracy, the rule of law, freedom of its citizens and, ultimately, everyone’s well-being.
“The assaults on the Constitution through reckless legislative and administrative sleights off hand, by dark forces operating in shadows, are fundamental ingredients of a coup — the sovereignty of the people of Kenya is under grave threat,” Ruto went on.
A section of his followers on Twitter however responded to DP Ruto’s concern with a past video of him saying that Jubilee legislators would amend Election laws to allow manual transmission of results so that the court does not nullify elections in future like in 2017.
They were demanding to know if he was the one speaking, yet he is currently cursing the amendments.
