Uhuru Kenyatta’s spokes person Kanze Dena has further shared an insight of frustrations that staff at the former president’s office are going through, as they patiently wait for government to fund the office’ operations.
In an interview with Citizen TV, Kanze confronted the government to come out clean on whether it would support the retired president’s office or not. In an earlier statement, Kanze revealed that the office has been surviving on Uhuru’s good will, yet it is a statutory requirement for government to fund the office.
Olive Burrows who was interviewing Kanze was curious to know how she has been surviving without a salary and why she would continue working despite receiving no returns.
“Just curious, for two years, you have not been remunerated, why stay in the row? Burrows posed,” the journalist posed
“There are things in life as a person you must decide what you stand for. When I was asked to to come and join the team, my boss, ofcourse that was my former boss of course, I joined, along the way things were not working out so what is the best choice to do in terms of character? I chose to sail through the storms, ” the mother of two explained.
She went on to reveal that she is surviving on the funds that she has been saving in saccos, urging Kenyans to follow in her footsteps as difficult days are bound to come
“I would like to urge Kenyans please save for a rainy day. That is when I understood the meaning of savings. I thank God for saccos and for all the opportunities to save. Please save, days like these do come,” she said.
