Nasa co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has revealed that he has a secret pact with fellow coalition principal Raila Odinga that leaves out other principal – Musalia Mudavadi, Isaac Ruto and Moses Wetangula.
Wiper Democratic Movement leader said the pact with Raila is all about how they will work together in 2022.
Speaking to a local daily, Kalonzo said the pact them, is separate from the 2017 National Super Alliance (Nasa) coalition agreement that house Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ford-Kenya’s Moses Wetangula, and Isaac Ruto’s Chama Cha Mashinani.
According to Kalonzo, even though the Nasa coalition is dead, he had signed an agreement with the ODM leader on how they will approach the 2022 general elections.
Kalonzo, however, refused to disclose the details of the deal but said it was entered into without the knowledge of other Nasa principals.
“You cannot just assume that since I was the deputy to Raila, then ODM has to support me,” Kalonzo said.
“These things have to be done expressly, which is what we have done under a separate arrangement that I can’t disclose at this stage. The arrangement is between Raila and I and not with the other parties in Nasa. I am not free to talk about it because it is a highly confidential matter,” he added.
Kalonzo’s statement comes at a time when his party Wiper Democratic Movement is also pursuing a post-election coalition arrangement with Uhuru’s Jubilee party.

Speaking to the Nation reporter, Kalonzo dismissed talk of him working with Deputy President William Ruto, saying he is currently focused on the coalition with Jubilee which is under the leadership of the President.
Despite claiming to have a secret pact with Raila, the former Vice-President has come out to claim how ODM frustrated the Nasa coalition arrangement to a point of total dysfunction hence forcing Wiper out of Nasa.
The claim of a secret pact has however been rubbished by ODM.
ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna accused the Wiper leader of seeking to “reap where he did not sow”.
According to Sifuna, Kalonzo’s claims were typical of his character and “a continuation of his “kati kati (in the middle)” brand of politics.
“We know that Kalonzo tried to push Raila to commit to supporting him in 2022 as part of the Nasa pact and as a party, we flatly rejected that demand,” Sifuna said.
Sifuna however admitted that the coalition agreement allowed support for nay of the partners in case of renewal in the next general elections.
“The so-called deal therefore only exists in Kalonzo’s wild dreams,” Mr. Sifuna said
