Azimio co- leader Kalonzo Musyoka has called out the government over its silence on the excessive use of force by police on Kenyans who were protesting against the Finance Bill 2024.
According to him, the events of Tuesday, where unarmed Kenyans were shot dead outside parliament, has left the nation unhappy and insecure.
“You can begin to imagine the trauma, the suffering by the Kenyan. As we speak, we have a nation that is deeply troubled deeply insecure. I don’t think there is any Kenyan who is feeling happy today. I don’t think William Ruto himself is feeling happy because I will be shocked if he was. Because as a parent how does he wake up every morning and imagine what happened and yet not a word since the happenings on Tuesday from the so called government spokes person, not a word from the Inspector General of Police or the Commandant here the famous Bungei,” Kalonzo said.
As a senior counsel, Kalonzo said that they will document all cases of atrocities during the demonstrations, further threatening to head to ICC.
” Perhaps even revisit the International Criminal Court and this time talk to them about the atrocities committed against the Kenya people by a regime which is hurtless, which calls its own citizens traitors, committing treasonous acts, ” the former Vice President said.
He noted that the youths who were protesting only wanted to reclaim their country.
Kalonzo added that President William Ruto needs to realize that he has the instruments of power and therefore he needs to order the stoppage of killings  of young Kenyans.
“It is obvious he must have given the directive ‘Shoot to kill’, because those snipers would not have blown the young brains we saw at the mortuary,” Kalonzo said
