Things Fall Apart is the legendary historical book by Chinua Achebe and best describes what has been happening to Deputy President William Ruto this year.
Yesterday, the bad news went on after the DP’s office budget was cut by almost half in the Ukur Yatani’s new 2020/2021 budget.
And it seems that more of that bad news will be following the politician from Sugoi after a section of Kalenjin elders gathered to accuse the Deputy President of abandoning the community and fighting for his own interests despite being a senior government official.
The men added that the DP only turned to them only when he was in need stating he had used the divide and rule tactic causing political division in the community.
Kimimin Cheboni, another Keiyo elder, contended Ruto had been “blinded” by his presidential ambitions to the extent he forgot he was elected to represent the community’s interests too.

Cheboni opined farmers in the Rift Valley had suffered more under the Jubilee administration of which Ruto is part and parcel compared to late retired president Daniel Moi’s regime.
A week ago, the DP sought blessings from former Nandi supreme chief Koitalel arap Samoei’s clan amidst storms in the ruling Jubilee Party. The DP was crowned by the Talai clan and given a special baton as a sign of trust of his leadership by the Kalenjin community.
