A man from Kakamega has reportedly vowed never to climb down the tree until deputy president William Samoie Ruto becomes the president of the Republic of Kenya.
Apparently, the man by the name Stephen Makomere is believed to have climbed the tree on Thursday 16th September as DP Ruto was on his western tour.
To show how serious the Kakamega man was, attempts by the wife (Nafula) to convince him to come down the tree bore no fruits as he blatantly refused.
Not even the threats by the wife to get married to another man compelled the Ruto die hard to come down as he gave her a wide berth.
Further, the wife even threatened to hire a power saw to bring the tree down if push comes to shove so that she can have her man back.
Thus, Sonko News has learnt that ardent supporters of the second in command have for the time being vowed to feed the man and give him water to bathe everyday in his new house until the 2022 general elections.
However, it is not clear whether the Kakamega man will manage to stay on the tree further should William Ruto fail to clinch the presidency in 2022.
In the meantime, William Ruto gave Ksh.1 million to traders in at Dinah junction in Webuye but angry residents were still not pleased with his generous donation.
Ruto hit the campaign trail in Bungoma county meeting residents at various centers to drum up support for his new political party UDA.
The deputy president was accompanied by area MPs John Waluke, Fred Kapondi, Majimbo Kalasinga, Dan Wanyama, Didmus Barasa, Mwambu Mabonga and Benjamin Washiali, and former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale
The DP also made a brief stop at Dinah junction in Webuye to address residents where he announced that he was donating Ksh.1 million to traders.
“I asked your MP, Dan Wanyama to write for me the names of mama mbogas and those other people that run their businesses at this junction and he did a good job. He gave me a list of 300 “hustlers” and I’ve got something for them.
“I have one million shillings for them which means three thousand shillings for everyone. This will just be a booster to your stock and things will even be better next year should we take over the leadership of this country because one hundred million shillings will be set aside annually for the same in each constituency,” Ruto said.
But even as Ruto was announcing his generous donation residents were not impressed per se, they kept shouting him down grumbling about fuel price hike.
The DP ignored the residents shouting him down and went ahead to invite Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama to deliver his remarks.
The area MP also received a cold reception as the residents chanted “mafuta, Mafuta” when he took the microphone to speak.
