An 84-year old man was left with great disappointment when he returned home after 47 years only to find his two wives had been married elsewhere.
Peter Oyuka left his home in Makale village in Malava, Kakamega County in 1974 at the age of 37 in search of greener pastures.
Makale is said to have told his people that he needed to take care of his two wives and children. He however did not provide details of where he was headed or when he would be returning.
Oyuka visited Kakamega on 1983, 1992 and 1996 but did not bother reaching his home.
After waiting long enough for their man, the wives decided to move on with their lives. They found new partners whom they settled with.
In the long run, he returned to his home on Tuesday but only a few people could recognize him.
However, a white goat was sacrificed as to appease the gods in line with Luhya customs before he was allowed back home.
“I wish my wives were here today to welcome me home,” Oyuka expressed his regrets.
He however accepted that he had been dumped and wished them well in their marriages.
“I wish my two wives well in their marriages. However, I’d like them to know that I’m still alive and that they should create time and visit me,” he said.
He is also said to have stayed in Tanzania for 13 years and even fell I love with a Tanzanian woman with home they have a son with.
However his Tanzanian lover cut communication once he returned to Kenya.
“My Tanzanian lover stopped communicating with me, and is yet to allow me to meet our son,” he revealed.
The old man successfully returned home after a Facebook post was shared by a good Samaritan with his details asking for leads to his family.
His 53-year old son came across the post by good luck and initiated contact.
Oyuka revealed that he was desperate to find his family since his health was deteriorating and the money he had made from onion farming had been spent on medication.
