Kajembe’s Daughter Died, Buried On Her Wedding Anniversary, Birthday

The dates of her death, burial, birth, and wedding dates are all the same for the former Changamwe MP Ramadhan Kajembe’s daughter Langoni.

Langoni Ramadhan Seif Kajember died of Covid-19 on Thursday night and was buried on Friday, August 20, which was the day she was born and her wedding anniversary.

In a nutshell, number 20 was her day.

Langoni was born on August 20, 1974, and married on August 20, 2004, at the age of 30.

According to the Islamic calendar, the death and burial dates are the same since a new day begins after 6.30 pm.

By custom, Langoni was buried within a day of her death.

Her father Ramadhan Kajember also died of Covid-19 this month.

She was the third of the Kajembe’s family to have died of Covid-19 within a time frame of a month. The last five months have been tough for the family, Kajembe’s family has lost four of their members, three to Covid-19.

The former MP’s first wife died of the deadly virus in late July, his second wife Zaharia died of another disease in March.

She was the MP’s second-born but his first daughter with his wife Aziza.

Sources say Langoni who was Kajembe second-born but his first with his wife Aziza was his favorite child. The bond between them was so tight that Kajembe gifted her a logistics company named after her.

For that reason, Langoni was buried next to her father at the family graveyard at Kwa Shee in Mikindani, Changamwe constituency something that took her husband’s in Matunga family by surprise.

Sources say even though the choice of her final resting place took the family by surprise, the was no disagreement.

Langoni is survived by her widower, businessman Khamis Mwakizumo, and a son, Said Khamis Mwakizumo, 17.

Before her death, Langoni was the Kenya Ports Authority South Coast manager in charge of Shimoni Port.

She was also an events organizer, bringing in Tanzanian Taarab musicians to Mombasa.

Langoni had been hospitalized for more than three weeks.

“She had fainted at home and first aid was administered before she was taken to the hospital. She was put in isolation even before her dad died,” Mponda, family spokesperson said.
