Former Chelsea manager and current Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that Chelsea’s manager Frank Lampard is under a lot of pressure to win the English premier League.
Jose Mourinho claimed that Chelsea has engaged in a serious spending spree this season and this has put so much pressure on the club.
This season alone, Chelsea spent to the tune of 200 million pounds to purchase Kai Havertz, Edouard Mendy, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell amongst others. Luckily, some of these players have proven better for the team by scoring a number of goals since joining the team.
Mourinho made these comments just before his team Tottenham Hotspur faces Chelsea tomorrow in what is expected to be a fierce football battle. He further admitted that he faced similar pressure when he was managing Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Chelsea.
“When you are favorites, you know why. You have to accept that and you have to deal with that kind of pressure and responsibility.” said Jose Mourinho.
Asked about his relationship with Lampard, Mourinho intimated that they have a good rapport with him since they all manage big clubs.
“When we are managers of big clubs that are rivals, it does change the relationship. Not in a bad way- I’ve got no problem with him.”
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard who played under Jose between 2004 to 2007 rubbished claims that he is at loggerheads with his former manager.
