Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho has taken a swipe at deputy president William Samoei Ruto over the Mombasa port issue.

Joho while speaking in Kilifi on Wednesday claimed that the deputy president was being hypocritical about the port issue since he was at the forefront of pushing for the same to be relocated to Naivasha.

The Mombasa governor even recalled when he was fighting for the port not to be relocated to Naivasha only for William Ruto to mock him badly as an academic dwarf. This was before the 2022 general elections.

According to Joho, William Ruto termed him as a brainless man then by questioning how water could be transferred from Mombasa to Naivasha.

“If there is anyone with William Ruto’s number, I want you to record this and forward it to him. I have never seen someone so deep in lies, hypocrisy and corruption like William Ruto. Yesterday I was shocked to hear Ruto say that he will look into the port affair if he is elected.

“William Ruto, are you not the one who came to Mombasa before the 2017 general elections when I was the governor? I complained that the port was being taken away from us but the same Ruto told me off that I was not educated to make such a claim. My friend, you cannot teach me matters of the port.” Continued Joho.
