A video is being circulated on social media showing an employee of Jirani Smart Micro Credit Sacco, being brutally assaulted by a fellow employee.
The victim, based at the Sacco’s Nyamira branch, was assaulted on Thursday morning and has been identified as Charles Nyaachi.
The video was secretly recorded by a fellow employee and he could be heard asking the suspect to stop.
The suspect was busy raining blows, kicks and slaps on Nyaachi who was lying down. He could be heard screaming in pain while pleading for mercy.
“You are wasting company resources,” the suspect reprimanded him.
“You are killing me,” the helpless employee pleaded.
In response to the viral video, Jirani Smart Sacco Team leader Kennedy Muthama revealed that Nyaachi was assaulted over fraud allegations and noted that Jirani Smart’s management does not condone such kind of treatment towards their workers.
“It is completely unethical and out of order . Therefore necessary disciplinary actions on the same as per the HR policy and procedure manual are going to be taken. This is not limited to but may include prosecution if need arises,” part of the statement addressed to Jirani Smart employees read.
The team leader further apologized to Nyaachi and the team in general for the incident but called upon the employees to protect their brand so that their competitors can not mess with their brand name.
“Remember, you do not eat where you shit or shit where you eat, because either way the smell is bad. Let’s kindly protect our brand from bad simplicity” he said.

Last year July, a similar incident involving a Chinese employer was witnessed. The employer was running a hotel in Kileleshwa, Nairobi. His Kenyan employee is said to have arrived late at work hence the discipline by being flogged.
The hotel’s management was ordered to pay the victim Kshs3 million, which he has never received to date because the employer was deported before the case could be concluded.
