Jesus Celebration Center (JCC) church in Mombasa announced that they were looking for a camera operator.
The church went ahead and outlined the requirements and qualities of the person that would be best suited to handle their camera operations.
One of the qualities that specifically caught the attention of many was that their ideal camera operator should be born again, spirit filled and have evidence of being able to speak in tongues.

Netizen have faulted the church for coming up with such a requirement for the job.
Wamuchesia Zablon said, “Evidence of speaking in tongues? Who will ascertain it? The bible says if anyone speaks in tongue, another should interpret and if interpreter is not there he/she must be silent. How will you know my tongue is genuine cause I might speak anything.”
“This JCC is not serious,” another comment read.
A JCC church representative however confirmed the same and said that applicants who are not born again will be directed to different ministries.
“Yes it is true. If you are not born again, I can lead you to a different ministry where you can identify a particular church based on your current location. You are supposed to be spirit-filled and speak in tongues. You will be asked about that during the interview. So, it means that you need to be born again since you will be working in a church,” the representative told a local website.
Other requirement for the job that JCC outlined include; An experience of multi-camera operations in studios or outside broadcast, being able to demonstrate an in depth understanding of cameras, camera equipment and camera systems, Video editing experience, The applicant should have a discerning and educated eye, a proven interest in and knowledge of photography and broadcast picture composition among others.
