Jahmby Koikai reveals how the famous Metro FM was closed 11 years ago

Date:

Jahmby Koikai has revealed how famous Reggae radio station Metro FM was closed in a day notice.

One of the most well-known radio stations, Metro FM, was based in Nairobi, Kenya.
It used to play reggae, around-the-clock.
People of all ages tuned in, and it was one of Kenya’s most liked radio stations at the time.
Jahmby Koikai in memory of Metro FM says.

“11 years ago, today, one of my former radio bosses called us for a meeting. First thing he asked, was, ‘Who is reading the 4pm news today?’ I responded that I’d be reading the radio news. Then he asked me to announce that Metro Fm would be no more. I asked questions, we argued, we disagreed and I made the announcement. In true Fyah Mummah fashion, I ended the reigns of Metro Fm with Lucky Dube’s Nobody Can Stop Reggae.”

“”I held meetings with the board countless times to get the station reinstated. Spent countless days, presenting files to the Ministry of Information. Was called in by the then Permanent Secretary and asked to tone it down.
Anyway it took a long time for me to heal from Metro Fm’s closure. 11 years on…..so much things to say right now but still REGGAE STRONG!!”
