Former Journalist Jacque Maribe has broken silence after she was found not guilty in the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.
Speaking outside Milimani Law Courts after her acquittal, Jacque summarized the whole encounter in a Bible verse.
“The only thing I will say go read John 8:32 for you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free,” she said.
Justice Grace Nzioka on Friday ruled that there was no evidence to prove Maribe’s involvement in the brutal murder of Kimani.
“It is my considered view that the charge brought against the second accused person was not the proper charge. The result is that the prosecution did not adduce enough evidence for this court to find the second accused person guilty of the offence of murder of Monica Nyawira Kimani on the night of September 19, 2018,” the judge said.
Maribe was the second accused in the case. Her ex-lover, Joseph Irungu, who was the first accused, was however found guilty of the murder.
The judge found that Jowie was the last person to be seen with Monica and he was at her house on the fateful night.
“It is the finding of this court that the first accused person was in the deceased house on the material date and he was the last person to be seen with the deceased. The evidence of the protected witness is that Harun whom he identified on the parade as the first accused person left that house at 23.00 and no one else went to that house.
“It is the evidence of this witness that the deceased’s Sudanese boyfriend was not in Kenya. And there is evidence that the deceased was supposed to travel the following day to go to Dubai to meet the Sudanese boyfriend and business and holiday,” Justice Nzioka stated.
Irungu will be sentenced on March 8.
