Former Citizen TV anchor Jackie Maribe has revealed that the Girls Squad gave her a wide berth after the murder case that she was facing.
The veteran journalist was arrested together with her boyfriend Jowi Irungu for allegedly conspiring to take the life of Monica Kimani.
Maribe intimated that despite having many girlfriends, only two of them stood with her to the last minute besides close members of her family.
“People I thought I was very close to. I even heard that some did public statements, dissociating themselves from me. People we were seen on holiday with. Being told we’re squad goals and things like that. I will be very honest with you, I have like two female friends who to date who stood by me from the beginning.” She said in an interview with the True Love Magazine.
Maribe added that her colleagues in the media industry also worsened the already bad situation by coming up with untrue stories. “I got to a place and I was zombified. Everyone is talking in your ear and there is so much commotion and all you hear is noise. From covering the news, I was now the news. These were my colleagues writing about me and some of the stories, were not true.” stated Maribe
Even at the prison, Jackie faced myriad of challenges such as discrimination by virtue of being a celebrity. She narrated that most of her fellow prisoners avoided associating with her as most of them not only questioned her innocence but also judged her.

However, the media personality recognized some good moments in the custody as she was able to bond and make stories with the others. At some point, they engaged in a flurry of activities such as making each other’s hair.
