Kamkunji parliamentary seat hopeful Alinur Mohamed is crying foul after being asked to shelve his ambitions.
The city politicians who was to vie for the seat on an ODM ticket was asked to step down and pave way for a Jubilee contestant since Kamkunji has been zoned as the ruling party’s region
Taking to his twitter, Mohamed lamented saying that he had invested a lot in campaigns for the last four years only for him to get disappointed at this point.
“I have been campaigning for the last four years, selling my agenda to the people and doing lots of activities to change lives in Kamukunji Constituency. I have sold my property worth millions of shillings and used the money to campaign just to ensure my dream of serving the people comes true.
“Unfortunately, Kamukunji Constituency has been zoned for the Jubilee Party making it impossible for the people of Kamukunji to have the leader of their choice. This is very painful, this is frustrating and it is a threat to our democracy,” he lamented.
Responding to his complaint, some of his followers advised him to go for the position as an independent candidate as others suggested that he does not qualify to be a leader.
“Zoning does not mean Independent Candidate cannot vie,if you are really serious or determined to serve the people go Independent and let see if Kamukunji people believe in you, Lamenting on Twitter can’t help, the real voters are not on Twitter,” read one of the replies on his post read.
“That was a very bold and informed move by the Azimio coalition. We can’t be electing socialites and wash wash frauds who will be nodding their heads as Dr. Nyikal discusses the Nuclear energy bill on the floor of Bunge.
Mohamed is not the only candidate who has been forced to shelve his political ambitions. The same thing happened to musician Bahati was asked by Jubilee to step down from the Mathare MP race because the area had been zoned as ODM region. This made the first time aspirant shed tears on cameras while begging for the chance to represent Mathare constituents.
