The week has been a hectic one for the Alchemist bar, which was accused of racism in a video clip that went viral on social media.
The video is said to have been recorded by a man identified as Emmanuel Murgor according to a statement shared by the bar on their social media handles.
Murgor has since apologized over the incident for misleading Kenyans following a meeting with the bar’s management and his advocate.
“It’s been a crazy week to say the least. We met with Emmanuel and his advocate to discuss the incident on May 20th. He has acknowledged that the clip shared was misleading to the public and was not representative of what happened that evening and what we stand for,” Alchemist revealed.
In his apology, Murgor admitted that the bar embraces diversity from his experience inside the establishment.
“The clip I shared made an impression that there was racial bias practices at The Alchemist. That was never the case. After reviewing the whole footage of the evening and even from my experience inside, The Alchemist embraces diversity. I also reiterate that from how the club’s management handled the incident. They are open to diversity and have in fact zero tolerance towards racism. I deeply apologize for any narrative the short clip may have caused. That was never my intention ,” Murgor said.
He went on to call upon Kenyans to seize attacking the bar on social media and revealed that the bar was not going to press charges against him.
