Jubilee planning to impeach Ruto – Moses Kuria reveals

Date:

Moses Kuria has claimed that Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega is set to table a motion of impeachment against Deputy President William Ruto.

The Gatundu South MP who is a close ally to DP Ruto, shared the claims on his Facebook page, terming it ‘double impeachment.

“I know Hon Kanini Kega has a motion ready for the impeachment of DP Ruto. In the mind of Uhuru he fired Ruto along time ago, why are we firing him twice? He has accepted he is just waiting for his term to end. Why bother to impeach someone who is already impeached by design?” Moses Kuria.

Ruto’s allies have previously claimed that the ongoing purge of National Assembly and Senate leaders allied to DP Ruto and rapid changes in House committees are calculated at paving the way for the Deputy President’s impeachment.

However, Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe has refuted claims by Deputy President William Ruto’s allies, that there is an impeachment plot being orchestrated against the DP.

While speaking with K24 on Thursday, May 21, Murathe, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ally, stated that ousting Ruto wasn’t an option they had considered.

Moses Kuria argued that Ruto had already been fired by Kenyatta and moving an impeachment motion was a waste of time.
“This impeachment talk, I can tell you, is not on a card on the table. But as I had stated in an earlier interview, he should be careful with what he wishes for.

Murathe added that it was the Deputy President’s allies who were saying that the ongoing cleanup at Jubilee would end with impeaching Ruto.

“If they want us to go there, I believe there are enough grounds,” he stated.

He argued that the DP was not only defiant but rebellious.

Ruto was accused of asking Senators aligned to him to skip Kenyatta’s meeting at State House, which led to the ousting of Senators Kipchumba Murkomen and Susan Kihika from the Senate Majority Leader and Majority Chief Whip positions. The DP himself was not present for the meeting.

“It is not a secret, the DP was actively whipping Senators not to attend. That is a height of insolence, it is unheard of anywhere in the world. That actually is not only defiance but a threat to the President.

“It’s like asking the President ‘who do you think you are? You can call for a parliamentary group meeting and I can ask them not to come.’ Unfortunately, in this case, their numbers did not add up,” Murathe noted.

He further blamed Ruto for the looming impeachment of Senate Deputy Speaker Kithure Kindiki, who failed to attend Kenyatta’s PG. Kithure was also put on the spotlight for approving a motion countering the President’s efforts to contain the Nairobi County leadership crisis.

As Kuria lamented on the plot to oust Ruto, South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro and his Kimili counterpart Didmus Barasa claimed that their lives and those of a number of MPs were in danger for supporting Ruto.
