I’m The Chief Opposition Leader From Today Henceforth- Babu Owino

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has called out opposition leaders who have decided to join government, by accepting nominations for Cabinet Secretary slots.

In a press briefing, Owino said that the the move by ODM members was painful.

Owino added that because of the events that have unfolded, he declared himself the chief opposition leader.

“Actually from today henceforth, I am the chief opposition leader. There are so many jokes doing rounds. There are so many people who are in Opposition who are now in bed with with the government.

“My interest is to fight for Kenyans. It pains me to see a person who was a fellow MP joining government,” he said.

Those who landed government slots include John Mbadi who was nominated to the National Treasury docket, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi (Energy and Petroleum), Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives and MSMEs development ) and Hassan Joho for Mining and Blue economy.

Joho has since welcomed the nomination with open arms.

“It is with great humility and profound appreciation that I accept my nomination by H.E President@WilliamsRuto for the position of Cabinet Secretary of Mining ,Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs.

“I extend my sincere gratitude to the Almighty Allah (SWT) for this opportunity to once again serve the great people of Kenya in a different capacity.”

“Upon confirmation, I look forward to working closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the Blue Economy, Mining and Maritime sectors take a leading role in the socio-economic transformation of our nation,” he said in a statement
