Wiper leader Steven Kalonzo Musyoka attended the Mashujaa day celebrations held at the Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi County.
Being the only senior Azimio leader in attendance, Kalonzo Musyoka was placed at the very far end of the podium, something which was very unusual since the Wiper leader would ordinarily sit at the centre of the podium by virtue of his senior status.
Despite the low attendance, what stood out for most Azimio supporters was the failure by president Ruto and his deputy Rigathi to assume Kalonzo Musyoka. The two did not even recognize his presence forget about giving him a chance to say something.
Well, it is now emerging that the Wiper leader might have been ignored due to his failure to join the Kenya Kwanza at the time when Ruto needed him most.
According to senior political analysts, those around the president believe that Kalonzo is Ruto’s major threat ahead of the 2027 general elections. Hence, it is said that Ruto is keen on finishing Mr. Musyoka politically. This might be one of the reasons why he was treated just like any other normal citizen because giving him an opportunity would make him shine before millions of Kenyans who were watching. There are those who believe that the Wiper boss was planning to challenge Ruto on the high cost of living which could have completely changed the mashujaa Day celebrations.
Ruto is further said to be keen on grooming young leaders from the Ukambani region. They include the former Machakos governor Alfred Mutua and former senator Johnson Muthama. As a result, the president was reportedly advised by insiders not to give Musyoka special treatment since that would make the other Ukambani leaders already in Kenya Kwanza feel undermined.
The president nominated Dr. Alfred Mutua to be the cabinet secretary for foreign affairs, a position believed to persuade the Ukambani region to rally behind him and the ruling administration.
