“I Was Circumcised At 3am” Drama As Cherargei Demands For Apology From Colleague

Date:

Nandi senator Samson Cherargei cracked senators when he vehemently denied wailing and yelling during his dramatic arrest three years ago.

The allegations were made by Kisii senator Richard Onyonka during the motion on considering Douglas Kanja as the next inspector general of police.

“Mr Speaker as you look at it now, a gentleman called Jimi Wanjigi has been arrested, his house was demolished and these are issues that I would want to seek in this house,” he said.

“I remember when Cherargei was being arrested three years ago and he was screaming saying oh my God what would happen to me,” Onyonka further said prompting Cherargei to interject and demanded for an apology.

“Mr Speaker, is it in order to go on the Hansard of this House that I was yelling and crying? I am a dry Kalenjin man who was circumcised at 3am,” he said.

“In fact, I was arrested naked but I have never cried about it Mr Speaker. Can he apologise to me and the great people of Nandi in the spirit of Koitalel Samoei and Talai,” Cherargei added.

Addressing the matter, senate speaker Amason Kingi challenged Onyonka who insisted that he saw Cherargei crying on the fateful day.

He further vowed to provide a video clip to substantiate his claims once the senate resumes from recess.

Meanwhile, the senate has approved the nomination of Kanja as IG, following recommendations from a joint National Assembly committee that vetted him last week.

“The committee, having considered the suitability, competence, experience and integrity of Mr Doughlas Kanja following the approval process and into consideration its observations and findings, and pursuant to provisions of the constitution, Public appointments (Parliamentary Approval), the NPS Act,” a report by the joint panel states.

“The National Assembly spanking orders and Senate Standing Orders, recommend that parliament approves the nomination of Douglas Kanja for appointment of Police IG.” a report by the joint panel states.
