For a better part of Wednesday and Thursday, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was a subject of discussion especially on twitter.
This is after the lawmaker decided to hide Nominated MP David Sankok’s crutches as a heated discussion was going on in the National Assembly during Wednesday’s special sitting.
Sankok raised the issue before the house forcing the proceedings to be halted for a few minutes so that the crutches could be found first.
“What is surprising is that you (Sankok) have been sitting there the whole time. If you have lost your crutches, you should have an idea of the person who has taken them and I will order them to be returned to you immediately.
“I am told it is Babu Owino. I am not sure if that is true. If that is the case you have to give them back. Are you the one who has committed the offence?” Deputy speaker Moses Cheboi who was presiding over the sitting stated.
Babu took Sankok’s crutches as Members of Parliament debated on the controversial political amendment bill.
Netizens condemned and criticized the MP for his actions as others said that he found joy in hurting others.
Babu has however come out to explain why he chose to hide the crutches.
Through a tweet, he said that he hid them since Tangatanga lawmakers could have used them as weapons.
“Tangatanga MPs were debating with emotions. They could have used Hon. Sonkok crutches as a weapon to unleash violence on us, I saw it prudent to hide them until they cool down,” he wrote.

His reasons were however not convincing to netizens as indicated below.
“Kijana nowadays ukona upusi mingi why should you do that ka Akili yako iko poa. Respect other Kenyans,” Mtemi Benja responded.
“The joke you have towards the disabled, bibi yako atakuzalia mmoja,” Shock davies said.
“What’s the difference between you and a baby class child? after being in university for 16years? nonsense,” Victor Kwokon wrote.
