Things took a different turn during the vetting of Alice Wahome, who was nominated as CS for Lands, a position she heldĀ for 10 months before the indefinite dismissal of cabinet.
This is after Saboti MP Caleb Hamisi said he was not pleased with her submission before the Appointments Committee.
According to him, Wahome should have come with progress report especially on the issues of the perennial land injustices and also where parastatals take each other to court, wasting a lot of time and money.
“I have been quietly listening to these proceedings. I may not be a happy person because I expected a progress report. We vetted the nominee before us two years ago and she has served in various portfolios. All I am hearing is this and that,”Amisi said.

In her submissions, Wahome said that she is fit for the position because she is a team worker, hardworking and has the right attitude to work as a minister.
Being a lawyer, Wahome said, she understands various aspects of the ministry she was nominated to.
She added that she was competent and has been exposed to challenges in the ministry of Lands, which she hopes to overcome with parliament’s support.
Wahome further said that for the 10 months she was in office, she ensured that programmes were up and running.
“I would say that in terms of the work that I’ve been doing, I’m very thankful to President William Ruto for returning me by way of this nomination, back to the ministry that I have been for the last 10 months,” she said.
“I find that as a confirmation or expression of confidence that I did my work properly and subject to the approval, I’m willing to serve the country in that capacity.”
