Kevin Kioko, alias Bahati, is fearing for his life after he was attacked by goons that were allegedly hired by his opponent in the Mathare parliamentary race.
Bahati has on several occasions refused to step down for ODM’s Anthony Oluoch who is the current MP for the constitutuency even after ODM and Jubilee, under the Azimio la Umoka-OKA reached the agreement.
Through a video, just hours after Azimio flag bearer publicly endorsed Oluoch saying that he will give Bahati a job in government, Bahati has insisted that he is not going to surrender his candidacy in favor of Oluoch.
“Today(Sunday) has been the hardest day in my political career. It started with getting a lot of challenges and fights from my opponent. He wanted me to be denied the ticket, I got it. They started propaganda that I had stepped down, I refused. He wanted me to be given a job which I still refuse,” Bahati explained.
He added that he has a job as a musician but he is keen on changing the lives of Mathare residents and that is why he continues to be brave despite the challenges.
“Today I tried my best because I am also part of Azimio but because my opponent saw that I made it to the Azimio rally he has been sending a lot of threats, today he send me some goons this is is how they left me,” Bahati said as he showed his tattered Jubilee Tshirt.
According to him, his opponent hired goods from outside Mathare to manhandle him .
“In all these, I forgive him. I know I am going through all this for a reason and because of that, I am not stepping down and I will still be on the ballot,” he said.
