Roots Party leader and 2022 presidential candidate George Luchiri Wajackoya has claimed that President William Ruto offered him a job for a CS position.
This is after the head of state send home his entire cabinet, leaving only prime CS Musalia Mudavadi, who doubles up as foreign affairs CS.
Wajackoya, who was speaking at the burial of a relative to former Kakamega governor relative Wycliffe Oparanya, said that he turned down the offer.
” I have been offered to be a minister. They called me the other day. I told Ruto pack your position and give it to whoever wants it. I am very bitter today. And those who want to be recycled. Gen Zs, anytime you see a recycled person just say no,” he said
He went on to advise ODM leader Raila Odinga to heed Gen Z calls against involving himself with the government.
“Baba’s spirit is what is walking. It passed through me and I became the first person to speak fearlessly about Ruto,” he said.
After sending his CSs home, most of who were his political allies, Ruto has said that he is looking forward to forming an inclusive cabinet.
According to him, his new cabinet will have the face of Kenya.
“You saw me make the changes so that I reorganise this government well. We must unite Kenyans so that we drive the development agenda in our country. We will work together with Kenyans across the political divide and unite all Kenyans while dealing decisively with all forms of corruption,” the president said during a tree planting exercise in Elgeyo Marakwet on July 13, 2024.
