President William Ruto has defended his decision to partake a series of foreign trips saying that they were deliberate and intentional.
According to him, it is unfair to accuse him of travelling as a tourist yet his intention was to profile Kenya in a positive manner.
“I have been accused of travelling. That is a is a fair accusation. The only unfairness in it is that many people have been travelling as a tourist but the profile we enjoy today in Kenya is as a result of the deliberate, intentional, positive profiling of our country because in any case I am the chief marketer of our country.
” I will not be doing justice to Kenya if I don’t give it the stature that Kenya actually deserves. I am very proud that today our country is held in very high esteem on many parts of both our continent and globally because of the efforts we have done collectively as the people of Kenya,” he said.
As pressure continues to mount on President Ruto, it has however been noted that he has not left the country since Kenyans began nationwide demos last month.
The protests first began as ant-finance bill and quickly shifted into anti-government demos, with protestors demanding the president and his entire team to go home.
The pressure saw the president dissolve his cabinet. Also, Inspector General of the police Japhet Koome resigned, amid blames of being responsible for the lives that were lost during the protests.
Ruto has since made changes in his government, nominating new CSs but retaining some from his previous cabinet.
