Ex-Standard Media Group boss Sam Shollei and his politician wife Gladys Boss Shollei divorced recently with the former having found another lover.
Shollei officiated his relationship with former junior staff turned lover, Faith Rono, when he and family and friends made a long journey to Chepkorio village to seek elders’ blessings.
The engagement ceremony known as koito went down at Rono’s paternal home in Elgeyo Marakwet county on Friday, January 10. The elders approved of the union and the groom’s request for Rono’s hand in marriage.
Though the dowry price remained a heavily-guarded secret among those who attended, it is clear two are now at liberty to choose whether to move in officially or conduct a wedding.
Songs and dance accentuated the high profile event with women from the bride’s side belting out ballads to celebrate their daughter’s big day.
Rono joined the Standard Media Group as an intern and soon moved to be a correspondent in the Eldoret bureau before she bypassed senior reporters to head the company’s corporate affairs.
It was not too long before cheating allegations rocked Shollei’s 26-year-old marriage.
A divorce is suspected to have happened few days to the engagement ceremony even though the former lovers no longer stayed together with reports Shollei moved out of his Kitusuru home.
The Uasin Gishu woman representative has always kept her private life out of public limelight only cherishing the moments they shared together.
