Nominated senator Millicent Omanga was trending on Twitter on Thursday after a chips vendor, Bevalyne Kwamboka exposed her.
In a tweet Kwamboka clarified that Omanga did not give her much money as she claimed.
“For clarification, team @MillicentOmanga only bought waru za 350 came out of the vehicle with 5 umbrellas, took photos returned them and gave out one and two aprons. Hiyo mambo ya cash haikua plus stock ni ya 350. Hizo waru gunia kubwa i had bought and started the day,” Kwamboka said in a tweet.
According to a previous post by Omanga, Bevalyne had received an umbrella, cash and stock as a boost to her business.
“Bevalyne Kwamboka is now sorted. Umbrella, cash and stock to boost her hustle. Mvua au jua haitamharibia biashara tena. Now let’s go eat those chips,”Omanga said in a tweet.
Following the expose by Kwamboka, Omanga defended herself saying that she had been informed that Kwamboka had requested for her help which she decided to offer in good faith.
“When it was brought to my attention that Bevalyne Kwamboka had publicly requested for an umbrella to help shield her from rain and sun as she does her chips business I was out of the country but immediately dispatched my team to visit her and offer her the help she needed,” the senator said.
Omanga however apologized for not meeting Kwamboka’s expectations which she said they were very high.
Her defence elicited mixed reactions from twitter users and here are some of the reactions;
Client 13173 : Bevalyne shouldn’t have shamed Millicent for the support she received however small or if she didn’t fulfil her promises, she should have at least requested her to fulfil her promise before stripping her naked. I find her to have done in a bad taste. Is about money or supporting the business she says one was left behind maybe she’s clout chasing…. at least she should appreciate….Kenyans though
